Narrative:

Center gave us clearance to cross das at 10000 ft, then switched us to iah approach. At time of changeover, we were on path to cross das at 10000 ft. Approach gave us a new clearance to 'slow to 210 KTS now,' then 'descend to 7000 ft.' captain slowed aircraft to 210 KTS and crossed das at 11500 ft. Approach should have said to meet crossing restr or said at das slow to 210 KTS and then descend to 7000 ft, because when he (the captain) got the new clearance, he forgot about das at 10000 ft.

Title: A B737-400 FO QUESTIONS THE ATC PROC REGARDING AN AMENDED CLRNC ALT CHANGE WHEN A PREVIOUS ALT XING RESTR WAS SUPPOSEDLY IN EFFECT.

Narrative: CTR GAVE US CLRNC TO CROSS DAS AT 10000 FT, THEN SWITCHED US TO IAH APCH. AT TIME OF CHANGEOVER, WE WERE ON PATH TO CROSS DAS AT 10000 FT. APCH GAVE US A NEW CLRNC TO 'SLOW TO 210 KTS NOW,' THEN 'DSND TO 7000 FT.' CAPT SLOWED ACFT TO 210 KTS AND CROSSED DAS AT 11500 FT. APCH SHOULD HAVE SAID TO MEET XING RESTR OR SAID AT DAS SLOW TO 210 KTS AND THEN DSND TO 7000 FT, BECAUSE WHEN HE (THE CAPT) GOT THE NEW CLRNC, HE FORGOT ABOUT DAS AT 10000 FT.
