Narrative:

1 hour before landing in lgw, I walked to the back galley and encountered the passenger and mid-cabin flight attendant in an altercation, over a domestic dispute between him and his girlfriend. I asked the flight attendant if she needed assistance, and if she wanted me to call the captain. I tried to neutralize the situation, and get the passenger back in his seat for the remainder of the flight. He complied, but only for a few mins. He kept coming back and interfering with the crew and passenger. The captain was called, he came back and spoke to the passenger, and the passenger complied again, until the captain was gone, and then proceeded to verbally abuse passenger and crew members. He frightened the passenger around him, saying things like 'I am going to kick the door out and we are all going to die.' he then pulled out a whiskey bottle and swung it around in a lasso fashion. Another flight attendant had to physically take the bottle from him. At this point the auths were called and were meeting the flight. During all of this we were in descent. I discreetly moved surrounding passenger away from him. For the remainder of the flight, I sat and talked to the passenger, distracting him, and calming him down. When the captain said prepare for landing I sat in my jump seat. During taxi he was up pacing up and down the cabin, not complying with crew member instructions. By the time the captain said prepare for arrival and security came on he was back in his seat pretending to be passed out. Contributing factors: 'alcohol.' although he was not consuming the liquor in the bottle he was swinging it around, he was drunk. I served him 1 drink. I was not aware of how much he was served by other flight attendants including myself. Corrective actions: there needs to be more limits set on serving liquor in the air. How can we cut someone off without offending them (the customer). I can't tell if someone is a bad drunk until they are disorderly, and by then it's too late. This was a 'buff' man and the flight attendants are all petite women. He was a potential danger, if he was not drunk this probably would not have happened. There needs to be a 'no tolerance' and swift serious punishment for this behavior. He was escorted away and I don't know what his consequence was, but I'm sure it was not enough compared to what the passenger and crew had to endure. Fear. Supplemental information from acn 426020: they got him off the plane but let him go because he didn't physically hurt anyone (his girlfriend didn't care that he abused her) and because the aircraft was from the united states and not registered in britain. Apparently down in baggage claim he hit someone and started a fight so he was arrested and they found he had a prior history of trouble with the law. We had a flight attendant with him at all times to watch him during the end of the flight. This passenger should never be allowed to fly on any carrier -- united states or british. Our captain was even hesitant to call and have the police meet the flight because he didn't want to be detained with paperwork.

Title: CABIN ATTENDANT RPT REGARDING AN A300 FLT ON WHICH A PAX WHO WAS INTOXICATED BECAME BELLIGERENT WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND AND THE CABIN ATTENDANT WAS CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE. THE PAX BEHAVED IN A MANNER DISTURBING TO OTHER PAX AND TO THE CABIN CREW. CAPT CAME BACK TO WARN HIM. SECURITY WAS CALLED TO MEET ACFT.

Narrative: 1 HR BEFORE LNDG IN LGW, I WALKED TO THE BACK GALLEY AND ENCOUNTERED THE PAX AND MID-CABIN FLT ATTENDANT IN AN ALTERCATION, OVER A DOMESTIC DISPUTE BTWN HIM AND HIS GIRLFRIEND. I ASKED THE FLT ATTENDANT IF SHE NEEDED ASSISTANCE, AND IF SHE WANTED ME TO CALL THE CAPT. I TRIED TO NEUTRALIZE THE SIT, AND GET THE PAX BACK IN HIS SEAT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT. HE COMPLIED, BUT ONLY FOR A FEW MINS. HE KEPT COMING BACK AND INTERFERING WITH THE CREW AND PAX. THE CAPT WAS CALLED, HE CAME BACK AND SPOKE TO THE PAX, AND THE PAX COMPLIED AGAIN, UNTIL THE CAPT WAS GONE, AND THEN PROCEEDED TO VERBALLY ABUSE PAX AND CREW MEMBERS. HE FRIGHTENED THE PAX AROUND HIM, SAYING THINGS LIKE 'I AM GOING TO KICK THE DOOR OUT AND WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE.' HE THEN PULLED OUT A WHISKEY BOTTLE AND SWUNG IT AROUND IN A LASSO FASHION. ANOTHER FLT ATTENDANT HAD TO PHYSICALLY TAKE THE BOTTLE FROM HIM. AT THIS POINT THE AUTHS WERE CALLED AND WERE MEETING THE FLT. DURING ALL OF THIS WE WERE IN DSCNT. I DISCREETLY MOVED SURROUNDING PAX AWAY FROM HIM. FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT, I SAT AND TALKED TO THE PAX, DISTRACTING HIM, AND CALMING HIM DOWN. WHEN THE CAPT SAID PREPARE FOR LNDG I SAT IN MY JUMP SEAT. DURING TAXI HE WAS UP PACING UP AND DOWN THE CABIN, NOT COMPLYING WITH CREW MEMBER INSTRUCTIONS. BY THE TIME THE CAPT SAID PREPARE FOR ARR AND SECURITY CAME ON HE WAS BACK IN HIS SEAT PRETENDING TO BE PASSED OUT. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: 'ALCOHOL.' ALTHOUGH HE WAS NOT CONSUMING THE LIQUOR IN THE BOTTLE HE WAS SWINGING IT AROUND, HE WAS DRUNK. I SERVED HIM 1 DRINK. I WAS NOT AWARE OF HOW MUCH HE WAS SERVED BY OTHER FLT ATTENDANTS INCLUDING MYSELF. THIS WAS A 'BUFF' MAN AND THE FLT ATTENDANTS ARE ALL PETITE WOMEN. HE WAS A POTENTIAL DANGER, IF HE WAS NOT DRUNK THIS PROBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. THERE NEEDS TO BE A 'NO TOLERANCE' AND SWIFT SERIOUS PUNISHMENT FOR THIS BEHAVIOR. HE WAS ESCORTED AWAY AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT HIS CONSEQUENCE WAS, BUT I'M SURE IT WAS NOT ENOUGH COMPARED TO WHAT THE PAX AND CREW HAD TO ENDURE. FEAR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 426020: THEY GOT HIM OFF THE PLANE BUT LET HIM GO BECAUSE HE DIDN'T PHYSICALLY HURT ANYONE (HIS GIRLFRIEND DIDN'T CARE THAT HE ABUSED HER) AND BECAUSE THE ACFT WAS FROM THE UNITED STATES AND NOT REGISTERED IN BRITAIN. APPARENTLY DOWN IN BAGGAGE CLAIM HE HIT SOMEONE AND STARTED A FIGHT SO HE WAS ARRESTED AND THEY FOUND HE HAD A PRIOR HISTORY OF TROUBLE WITH THE LAW. WE HAD A FLT ATTENDANT WITH HIM AT ALL TIMES TO WATCH HIM DURING THE END OF THE FLT. THIS PAX SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED TO FLY ON ANY CARRIER -- UNITED STATES OR BRITISH. OUR CAPT WAS EVEN HESITANT TO CALL AND HAVE THE POLICE MEET THE FLT BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO BE DETAINED WITH PAPERWORK.
