Narrative:

Normal VFR landing lax runway 25L. Planned to take high speed turnoff and had nearly turned off when tower said to continue on and take second turnoff 'D.' turnoff D is smaller and at right angles, and was concerned about getting off runway and getting the tail of my A320 clear of runway enough to miss clearance from tower. I allowed the combination of tower clearance confusion and getting my tail clear from runway 25L to distract me enough so that I came to a stop a few ft over the stop line for runway 25R. I had the first officer inform tower immediately and tower immediately chuckled and cleared us to continue and cross the runway. No other aircraft were involved. Corrective actions: prioritize tasks. Always stop prior to a stop bar. Solicit more input from other crew member.

Narrative: NORMAL VFR LNDG LAX RWY 25L. PLANNED TO TAKE HIGH SPD TURNOFF AND HAD NEARLY TURNED OFF WHEN TWR SAID TO CONTINUE ON AND TAKE SECOND TURNOFF 'D.' TURNOFF D IS SMALLER AND AT R ANGLES, AND WAS CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING OFF RWY AND GETTING THE TAIL OF MY A320 CLR OF RWY ENOUGH TO MISS CLRNC FROM TWR. I ALLOWED THE COMBINATION OF TWR CLRNC CONFUSION AND GETTING MY TAIL CLR FROM RWY 25L TO DISTRACT ME ENOUGH SO THAT I CAME TO A STOP A FEW FT OVER THE STOP LINE FOR RWY 25R. I HAD THE FO INFORM TWR IMMEDIATELY AND TWR IMMEDIATELY CHUCKLED AND CLRED US TO CONTINUE AND CROSS THE RWY. NO OTHER ACFT WERE INVOLVED. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: PRIORITIZE TASKS.
