Narrative:

On vectors at ATC assigned altitude of 2000 ft in clear, on edge of a vertical wall of cloud from indefinite ceiling -- maybe 400 ft to more than 8000 ft. My vector paralleled the wall and I had a steady downdraft causing trim up. ATC gave me a right 180 degree turn into the wall wherein I encountered strong windshear that lifted me 500-600 ft before I caught it and corrected. I inadvertently did not anticipate the windshear and updraft. Next time I see that sort of WX phenomenon, I will be knowledgeable to stay alert and be prepared for windshear.

Title: THE PLT OF A CPR BE58 BARON ENTERS A WALL OF CLOUDS AND HAS AN EXCURSION IN ALT 500-600 FT ABOVE HIS ASSIGNMENT.

Narrative: ON VECTORS AT ATC ASSIGNED ALT OF 2000 FT IN CLR, ON EDGE OF A VERTICAL WALL OF CLOUD FROM INDEFINITE CEILING -- MAYBE 400 FT TO MORE THAN 8000 FT. MY VECTOR PARALLELED THE WALL AND I HAD A STEADY DOWNDRAFT CAUSING TRIM UP. ATC GAVE ME A R 180 DEG TURN INTO THE WALL WHEREIN I ENCOUNTERED STRONG WINDSHEAR THAT LIFTED ME 500-600 FT BEFORE I CAUGHT IT AND CORRECTED. I INADVERTENTLY DID NOT ANTICIPATE THE WINDSHEAR AND UPDRAFT. NEXT TIME I SEE THAT SORT OF WX PHENOMENON, I WILL BE KNOWLEDGEABLE TO STAY ALERT AND BE PREPARED FOR WINDSHEAR.
