Narrative:

We were using managed navigation for departure on runway 36 at dca. Even though navigation was annunciated, the flight director didn't command the required turn up the river, so we may have entered the prohibited area (P56) before we manually turned left to intercept the dca 328 degree radial. The problem -- relying too much on the automation. The solution -- use the automation, but discipline ourselves to 'look through' the automation and use the 'old stuff' as backup. ATC didn't mention anything but we may have entered the prohibited area.
