Narrative:
Aircraft #1 climbing to FL330 east/northeast. Nearest potential conflict was 80-100 mi east (wbound at FL310). Other traffic in the sector occupied my time until d-side controller alerted me to close proximity of aircraft #1 and #2. Turns were issued and aircraft #1 descended back to FL290. Climb rate and potential traffic were misjudged.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CTLR CLRED ACFT #1 THROUGH ALT OF ACFT #2. BECAME DISTRACTED WITH OTHER TFC. REALIZING THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE TIGHT, ATTEMPTED TO RECOVER, LOST STANDARD SEPARATION.
Narrative: ACFT #1 CLBING TO FL330 E/NE. NEAREST POTENTIAL CONFLICT WAS 80-100 MI E (WBOUND AT FL310). OTHER TFC IN THE SECTOR OCCUPIED MY TIME UNTIL D-SIDE CTLR ALERTED ME TO CLOSE PROX OF ACFT #1 AND #2. TURNS WERE ISSUED AND ACFT #1 DSNDED BACK TO FL290. CLB RATE AND POTENTIAL TFC WERE MISJUDGED.
