Narrative:

Pushed back off gate at mia. Crew anticipating runway 9R departure due to south departure routing. Instructed by ground control to taxi to runway 9L, readback was runway 9L. All of crew thought we heard runway 9R and first officer stated we were clear to cross runway 12 at taxiway V, which was consistent with our thinking of using runway 9R. As we started across runway 12 at taxiway V, we observed air carrier aircraft entering runway 12 at end of runway. After crossing runway 12 ground control called asked where we were going. We stated runway 9R as cleared. Ground control then stated that they had issued runway 9L, which was later confirmed by recording. We were then told continue to runway 9R. Later we were requested to call mia tower on the landline. We called the tower and they informed us that air carrier aircraft elected to taxi off the runway 12 at taxiway Q1. They also informed us at that time that they had confirmed the readback as runway 9L.
