Narrative:

Departing yyz, departure immediately cleared us to FL230. We maintained 200 KIAS until climbing through 3000 ft AGL, and then began accelerating to 320 KIAS. When we were well above 10000 ft, I noticed that there was nothing written on the company pages about exceeding 250 KIAS in the climb above 3000 ft AGL. I then looked at the yul company pages, where it is written that we can do so. Examining the yyz page for noise abatement procedures, I found that it is written that for noise abatement 250 KIAS cannot be exceeded until above 10000 ft. This was our fault because we thought that it was permissible to exceed 250 KIAS in a climb above 3000 ft AGL if cleared above 10000 ft at all canadian airports. I would recommend that a note be placed on the company page at yyz warning not to do this.

Title: MD80 CREW EXCEEDS MAX NOISE ABATEMENT CLB AIRSPD AT YYZ.

Narrative: DEPARTING YYZ, DEP IMMEDIATELY CLRED US TO FL230. WE MAINTAINED 200 KIAS UNTIL CLBING THROUGH 3000 FT AGL, AND THEN BEGAN ACCELERATING TO 320 KIAS. EXAMINING THE YYZ PAGE FOR NOISE ABATEMENT PROCS, I FOUND THAT IT IS WRITTEN THAT FOR NOISE ABATEMENT 250 KIAS CANNOT BE EXCEEDED UNTIL ABOVE 10000 FT. THIS WAS OUR FAULT BECAUSE WE THOUGHT THAT IT WAS PERMISSIBLE TO EXCEED 250 KIAS IN A CLB ABOVE 3000 FT AGL IF CLRED ABOVE 10000 FT AT ALL CANADIAN ARPTS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT A NOTE BE PLACED ON THE COMPANY PAGE AT YYZ WARNING NOT TO DO THIS.
