Narrative:

After departing santa barbara to los angeles, realized on arrival that previous open write-up existed on aircraft. I was rushing to leave sba on time and even received a dispatch release from company with no indication of the item. Upon arrival in lax, notified the mechanic of the item, which was then deferred and repaired later that day. I should have taken closer examination of previous log can pages. However, also a timely notification from company would have assisted.
