Narrative:

Fueling with passenger on board. Fueling was nearly completed when I heard forward entry door close. I looked back at door annunciator panel to confirm that door was in fact closed. I looked out the left pilot's window and saw that jetway was standing clear of aircraft. I told flight attendant to get jetway back, but by then agent was gone. Fueling was complete within 1 min or so and we departed gate with no further complications. I have forwarded this information to my company safety officer in order to get the information out as to the importance of checking with flight crew as to departure status.
