Narrative:

We were approaching payne field in wa (pae) and given a turn of 160 degree heading for the final to payne. This heading placed us on a head-on course with a B777 departing VFR from payne. Evasive action was taken to avoid the B777. I am unsure of coordination between tower and approach in the process of launching an aircraft opposite direction off active runway with an aircraft on final.
