Narrative:

En route from clt to oaj on V54 at approximately 35 NM west of sandhills VOR, the ZDC controller issued us a 15 degree right turn to intercept V296. This resulted in a heading of 110 degrees. I estimated that this heading would put us direct to the fayetteville VOR (V296). We were subsequently given a frequency change to another sector of ZDC. After changing frequencys (initially giving our new heading and clearance) some few mins elapsed. Then the center controller told us to turn right immediately to a heading of 210 degrees. He then asked us to repeat our previous heading and clearance. He then told us that we should have questioned that previous clearance. Evidently, we had entered a military restr area. From my standpoint, we were following our assigned clearance. This incident did cause me to be more careful in accepting and following clrncs.

Title: ACR DH8 PLT RECEIVES AND ACKNOWLEDGES ZDC HDG. AFTER XFER TO ANOTHER ZDC SECTOR, CTLR ISSUES RADICAL TURN AND QUESTIONS PLT'S LAST ASSIGNED CTL INSTRUCTIONS. PLT ADVISES THAT HE IS DOING WHAT WAS ASSIGNED.

Narrative: ENRTE FROM CLT TO OAJ ON V54 AT APPROX 35 NM W OF SANDHILLS VOR, THE ZDC CTLR ISSUED US A 15 DEG R TURN TO INTERCEPT V296. THIS RESULTED IN A HDG OF 110 DEGS. I ESTIMATED THAT THIS HDG WOULD PUT US DIRECT TO THE FAYETTEVILLE VOR (V296). WE WERE SUBSEQUENTLY GIVEN A FREQ CHANGE TO ANOTHER SECTOR OF ZDC. AFTER CHANGING FREQS (INITIALLY GIVING OUR NEW HDG AND CLRNC) SOME FEW MINS ELAPSED. THEN THE CTR CTLR TOLD US TO TURN R IMMEDIATELY TO A HDG OF 210 DEGS. HE THEN ASKED US TO REPEAT OUR PREVIOUS HDG AND CLRNC. HE THEN TOLD US THAT WE SHOULD HAVE QUESTIONED THAT PREVIOUS CLRNC. EVIDENTLY, WE HAD ENTERED A MIL RESTR AREA. FROM MY STANDPOINT, WE WERE FOLLOWING OUR ASSIGNED CLRNC. THIS INCIDENT DID CAUSE ME TO BE MORE CAREFUL IN ACCEPTING AND FOLLOWING CLRNCS.
