Narrative:

Being vectored for arrival to lax. Socal approach control cleared us for a 'visual to runway 25L at lax, maintain 190 KTS to lima (OM), contact tower at lima.' clearance acknowledged by first officer. Approaching lima, I was concerned with configuring aircraft and failed to monitor first officer's switching to and contacting lax tower. I observed the traffic that I was following touch down, roll out, and exit runway 25L. Our procedures call for a 1000 ft AGL callout, '1000 ft, instruments crosschecked' by the PNF with 'landing clearance or minimums,' if IFR, 'runway and airport.' my first officer called '1000 ft instruments crosschecked,' to which I replied 'runway 25L, visual, lax cleared to land' by rote. I had the visual picture of the airport and runway the preceding aircraft had exited. I wrongly gave affirmation to landing clearance. We landed, exited the runway, holding short of runway 25R awaiting clearance to cross. At this time my first officer noticed that we were on socal still and had not contacted tower.

Title: ACR ACFT LANDS WITHOUT CLRNC AT LAX.

Narrative: BEING VECTORED FOR ARR TO LAX. SOCAL APCH CTL CLRED US FOR A 'VISUAL TO RWY 25L AT LAX, MAINTAIN 190 KTS TO LIMA (OM), CONTACT TWR AT LIMA.' CLRNC ACKNOWLEDGED BY FO. APCHING LIMA, I WAS CONCERNED WITH CONFIGURING ACFT AND FAILED TO MONITOR FO'S SWITCHING TO AND CONTACTING LAX TWR. I OBSERVED THE TFC THAT I WAS FOLLOWING TOUCH DOWN, ROLL OUT, AND EXIT RWY 25L. OUR PROCS CALL FOR A 1000 FT AGL CALLOUT, '1000 FT, INSTS XCHKED' BY THE PNF WITH 'LNDG CLRNC OR MINIMUMS,' IF IFR, 'RWY AND ARPT.' MY FO CALLED '1000 FT INSTS XCHKED,' TO WHICH I REPLIED 'RWY 25L, VISUAL, LAX CLRED TO LAND' BY ROTE. I HAD THE VISUAL PICTURE OF THE ARPT AND RWY THE PRECEDING ACFT HAD EXITED. I WRONGLY GAVE AFFIRMATION TO LNDG CLRNC. WE LANDED, EXITED THE RWY, HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 25R AWAITING CLRNC TO CROSS. AT THIS TIME MY FO NOTICED THAT WE WERE ON SOCAL STILL AND HAD NOT CONTACTED TWR.
