Narrative:

Altitude restr. Approach control asked if we could make our restr at saalr intersection. We were high to top WX and told them that it was close but that we could make saalr at 11000 ft. He said that it was too close and to turn west. As we turned west we leveled at saalr at 11000 ft. We asked if he showed us at saalr at 11000 ft and he replied, 'that's approved.' I don't think his equipment kept up with our high rate of descent.

Title: B757 CREW REMAINED HIGH TO AVOID WX. CTLR BECAME CONCERNED WHEN HE DID NOT THINK THE ACFT COULD COMPLY WITH THE RESTR.

Narrative: ALT RESTR. APCH CTL ASKED IF WE COULD MAKE OUR RESTR AT SAALR INTXN. WE WERE HIGH TO TOP WX AND TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS CLOSE BUT THAT WE COULD MAKE SAALR AT 11000 FT. HE SAID THAT IT WAS TOO CLOSE AND TO TURN W. AS WE TURNED W WE LEVELED AT SAALR AT 11000 FT. WE ASKED IF HE SHOWED US AT SAALR AT 11000 FT AND HE REPLIED, 'THAT'S APPROVED.' I DON'T THINK HIS EQUIP KEPT UP WITH OUR HIGH RATE OF DSCNT.
