Narrative:

Aircraft X assigned 6000 ft from pbi approach. Handed off to mia approach. Observed aircraft Y descending on converging path at same rate and altitude. As we passed 6600 ft, we were instructed to level at 7000 ft. Received TCASII TA prior to leveling. Controller asked what altitude we were assigned and then stated we were supposed to be assigned 7000 ft. Both the first officer and I were positive we were assigned 6000 ft.

BOTH THE FO AND I WERE POSITIVE WE WERE ASSIGNED 6000 FT.
