GPWS terrain warning activated on the jaws arrival to sjc on the sns 318 degree radial at 35 DME at 5000 ft. We executed the escape maneuver and climbed to approximately 8000 ft. We advised ATC and they descended us back down and vectored us for the approach to runway 12R. We experienced. No further warnings. Supplemental information from acn 421367: spot terrain approximately 10 mi southwest of sjc is 3231 ft and sjc MSA is 5500 ft.
