Narrative:

A crossing restr was given on the jumbo 1 arrival into dfw. Subsequently given a vector off the arrival and slowed to 250 KTS for spacing. Captain reduced descent rate to slow. Then cleared on a vector back on the arrival. Descent rate not increased enough to reach crossing restr (11000 ft). Frequency change to approach. Told approach control that we were unable to reach required crossing restr prior to fix. Then cleared on a vector to final and a further descent to 5000 ft with best rate descent. No conflict or special action occurred or was required. Chain of events: 1) change of arrs en route. Glen rose arrival to jumbo 1 arrival. 2) vectors of arrival for spacing. 3) slowed to 250 KTS on descent. 4) descent checklist required at same time distracting first officer, PNF.

Title: A B737 CREW WAS GIVEN A XING RESTR ON A STAR INTO DFW.

Narrative: A XING RESTR WAS GIVEN ON THE JUMBO 1 ARR INTO DFW. SUBSEQUENTLY GIVEN A VECTOR OFF THE ARR AND SLOWED TO 250 KTS FOR SPACING. CAPT REDUCED DSCNT RATE TO SLOW. THEN CLRED ON A VECTOR BACK ON THE ARR. DSCNT RATE NOT INCREASED ENOUGH TO REACH XING RESTR (11000 FT). FREQ CHANGE TO APCH. TOLD APCH CTL THAT WE WERE UNABLE TO REACH REQUIRED XING RESTR PRIOR TO FIX. THEN CLRED ON A VECTOR TO FINAL AND A FURTHER DSCNT TO 5000 FT WITH BEST RATE DSCNT. NO CONFLICT OR SPECIAL ACTION OCCURRED OR WAS REQUIRED. CHAIN OF EVENTS: 1) CHANGE OF ARRS ENRTE. GLEN ROSE ARR TO JUMBO 1 ARR. 2) VECTORS OF ARR FOR SPACING. 3) SLOWED TO 250 KTS ON DSCNT. 4) DSCNT CHKLIST REQUIRED AT SAME TIME DISTRACTING FO, PNF.
