Narrative:

ATC had given us a change in the STAR, to intercept a radial which was not a part of the STAR. In the process of reprogramming the FMS. I neglected to notice that we were to rejoin the eau.EAU3 arrival after andde. The clearance was to intercept a radial out of msp which took us to zaske intersection and rejoin the eau.EAU3 arrival. I believe the workload of the arrival and the change to a non published arrival routing contributed to the missed turn to 300 degrees over the zaske intersection. A better review of the STAR would correct this problem. Supplemental information from acn 421500: failed to follow required turn for the eau claire 3 arrival (turn to 300 degrees at zaske intersection). Turn not shown on FMS flight plan, was given turn off the arrival and given an amended clearance. ATC discovered the missed turn and advised to fly heading 320 degrees. The heading of 320 degrees was followed and a normal approach was made into msp runway 12L. Human performance: 1) increased workload of programming navaids and FMS for non standard arrival procedure. 2) crew failure to continually use text description of the arrival and preoccupation with the approach in the terminal environment.

Title: CL65 CREW DID NOT TURN WHEN CALLED FOR BY THE ARR STAR.

Narrative: ATC HAD GIVEN US A CHANGE IN THE STAR, TO INTERCEPT A RADIAL WHICH WAS NOT A PART OF THE STAR. IN THE PROCESS OF REPROGRAMMING THE FMS. I NEGLECTED TO NOTICE THAT WE WERE TO REJOIN THE EAU.EAU3 ARR AFTER ANDDE. THE CLRNC WAS TO INTERCEPT A RADIAL OUT OF MSP WHICH TOOK US TO ZASKE INTXN AND REJOIN THE EAU.EAU3 ARR. I BELIEVE THE WORKLOAD OF THE ARR AND THE CHANGE TO A NON PUBLISHED ARR ROUTING CONTRIBUTED TO THE MISSED TURN TO 300 DEGS OVER THE ZASKE INTXN. A BETTER REVIEW OF THE STAR WOULD CORRECT THIS PROB. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 421500: FAILED TO FOLLOW REQUIRED TURN FOR THE EAU CLAIRE 3 ARR (TURN TO 300 DEGS AT ZASKE INTXN). TURN NOT SHOWN ON FMS FLT PLAN, WAS GIVEN TURN OFF THE ARR AND GIVEN AN AMENDED CLRNC. ATC DISCOVERED THE MISSED TURN AND ADVISED TO FLY HDG 320 DEGS. THE HDG OF 320 DEGS WAS FOLLOWED AND A NORMAL APCH WAS MADE INTO MSP RWY 12L. HUMAN PERFORMANCE: 1) INCREASED WORKLOAD OF PROGRAMMING NAVAIDS AND FMS FOR NON STANDARD ARR PROC. 2) CREW FAILURE TO CONTINUALLY USE TEXT DESCRIPTION OF THE ARR AND PREOCCUPATION WITH THE APCH IN THE TERMINAL ENVIRONMENT.
