Narrative:

This is regarding the incident that happened on nov/xa/98 at approximately XA30 at msy. I (the pilot) was being vectored for an approach to runway 10 when for traffic purposes I was revectored for a visual approach to runway 1. I broke out of clouds at 1500 ft MSL and was turned on final heading 010 degrees and told to contact tower. I saw the runway, called tower, and was cleared to land. I then lowered the gear and continued the descent to the landing. When I was on a 1 mi final, I lowered the flaps and continued the descent towards the runway. It was not until the propeller striking the pavement, I realized the gear was not where it was supposed to be. The plane then proceeded to the ground and I did the best to keep it under control.
