Deviation off A700 due WX. Approximately 120 NM south of slatn intersection on a line of WX on A700 south of slatn intersection. Requested deviation from ATC through new york radio. Timely reply in order to avoid WX not received. Captain exercised his authority/authorized to deviate around WX. New york radio informed immediately of deviation and when back on course.
