Narrative:

On nov/xa/98 our aircraft struck a deer on takeoff roll at keene airport, nh. Damage amounted to a bent left main gear door. On nov/xb/98 a mechanic was flown up from bradley airport to examine the damage. The mechanic and the captain conferred with each other with regards to the paperwork and the feasibility of flying the aircraft from keene to bradley airport for maintenance. The captain then informed me that he and the challenger mechanic had completed all the necessary documentation needed to conduct the flight from een-bdl. After this occurred, the flight department manager took it upon himself to call the FAA and describe the situation. There is now concern that all the necessary documentation was not in order and the FAA is going to have to conduct an investigation. This situation has taught me that even if I'm not the PIC, I should be more involved in the decision making process.
