Narrative:

Apparently our radio was not transmitting or receiving as we were doing pattern work. We were unaware of conflicting traffic until 2 days after the near miss report was filed with the FAA. We were flying a close-in right traffic pattern runway 20 and the other involved aircraft was doing a practice ILS in VMC. Their report stated that our aircraft cut them off at the last second before landing. I remember looking to clear the base to final turn both before and during the turn. We saw no other aircraft in the area. Since the radio may not have been working at the time, we did not hear any xmissions. I don't believe the other aircraft report of being within 25 ft was accurate, as we did not see or hear them at all. I believe that if we had had an operable radio that this incident would not have occurred. We have grounded the aircraft until the radio is repaired.

Title: NMAC. A C172 CUTS OFF A C177 ON FINAL APCH TO CDC, UT, MISSING IT BY 25 FT HORIZ. THE C172'S RADIO WAS INOP, UNKNOWN TO THE CREW.

Narrative: APPARENTLY OUR RADIO WAS NOT XMITTING OR RECEIVING AS WE WERE DOING PATTERN WORK. WE WERE UNAWARE OF CONFLICTING TFC UNTIL 2 DAYS AFTER THE NEAR MISS RPT WAS FILED WITH THE FAA. WE WERE FLYING A CLOSE-IN R TFC PATTERN RWY 20 AND THE OTHER INVOLVED ACFT WAS DOING A PRACTICE ILS IN VMC. THEIR RPT STATED THAT OUR ACFT CUT THEM OFF AT THE LAST SECOND BEFORE LNDG. I REMEMBER LOOKING TO CLR THE BASE TO FINAL TURN BOTH BEFORE AND DURING THE TURN. WE SAW NO OTHER ACFT IN THE AREA. SINCE THE RADIO MAY NOT HAVE BEEN WORKING AT THE TIME, WE DID NOT HEAR ANY XMISSIONS. I DON'T BELIEVE THE OTHER ACFT RPT OF BEING WITHIN 25 FT WAS ACCURATE, AS WE DID NOT SEE OR HEAR THEM AT ALL. I BELIEVE THAT IF WE HAD HAD AN OPERABLE RADIO THAT THIS INCIDENT WOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. WE HAVE GNDED THE ACFT UNTIL THE RADIO IS REPAIRED.
