Narrative:

Departed smo VFR to boi. Checked FSS for WX prior to departure. Route of flight: smo-mina-boi. Checked WX in vicinity of bishop and boi changed to possible IFR at my ETA for boi. At mina I elected to land at wmc for fuel in case boi became IFR for extra margin of fuel. To ensure clearance of restr area, I used plotter and WAC chart for distance and radial, 360 degrees and 40 NM off mina VOR for landing at wmc. In haste, apparently I read sectional distance instead of WAC distance from the plotter. Human performance considerations: approximately 1 hour before departure I had a very upsetting argument with my child, which left me very emotionally upset. My emotional condition was probably the primary factor in not being more thorough in my navigation calculations.

Title: PLT OF A BEECH BONANZA V35 INADVERTENTLY PENETRATED RESTR AIRSPACE DURING A XCOUNTRY VFR FLT DUE TO MISCALCULATION OF THE RTE AND MILEAGE.

Narrative: DEPARTED SMO VFR TO BOI. CHKED FSS FOR WX PRIOR TO DEP. RTE OF FLT: SMO-MINA-BOI. CHKED WX IN VICINITY OF BISHOP AND BOI CHANGED TO POSSIBLE IFR AT MY ETA FOR BOI. AT MINA I ELECTED TO LAND AT WMC FOR FUEL IN CASE BOI BECAME IFR FOR EXTRA MARGIN OF FUEL. TO ENSURE CLRNC OF RESTR AREA, I USED PLOTTER AND WAC CHART FOR DISTANCE AND RADIAL, 360 DEGS AND 40 NM OFF MINA VOR FOR LNDG AT WMC. IN HASTE, APPARENTLY I READ SECTIONAL DISTANCE INSTEAD OF WAC DISTANCE FROM THE PLOTTER. HUMAN PERFORMANCE CONSIDERATIONS: APPROX 1 HR BEFORE DEP I HAD A VERY UPSETTING ARGUMENT WITH MY CHILD, WHICH LEFT ME VERY EMOTIONALLY UPSET. MY EMOTIONAL CONDITION WAS PROBABLY THE PRIMARY FACTOR IN NOT BEING MORE THOROUGH IN MY NAV CALCULATIONS.
