Narrative:

ATC facility: toronto center. Location: yyz, 50 DME. On profile descent runway 6 yyz, first officer was at 11500 ft. Crossing the yyz 50 DME arc, the profile crossing altitude called for between 12000- 14000 ft. When I discovered this, we climbed back up and informed ATC. He replied to continue descent to 7000 ft. The first officer was newly upgraded. With growth upon us again we/I should be extra vigilant.
