I let the aircraft penetrate into ZOB airspace (from ZAU airspace) because I thought that a computer handoff had been initiated when it had not.

Title: ARTCC RADAR CTLR FAILED TO MAKE APPROPRIATE HDOF TO THE SUBSEQUENT CTR'S AIRSPACE FOR AN ACR ACFT DUE TO BELIEVING THAT A COMPUTER HDOF HAD BEEN INITIATED.
Narrative: I LET THE ACFT PENETRATE INTO ZOB AIRSPACE (FROM ZAU AIRSPACE) BECAUSE I THOUGHT THAT A COMPUTER HDOF HAD BEEN INITIATED WHEN IT HAD NOT.
