Narrative:
On sep/xa/98, I was on an IFR flight from san antonio, tx, to harlingen, tx. I was vectored to the ILS final approach course and performed an ILS. Conditions at the time were VMC and I was cleared to announce my position on the CTAF. (Tower was closed.) I landed safely and taxied in. What I forgot to do, however, was close my IFR flight plan with approach. Apparently they closed the airport for an unspecified amount of time. I discovered my mistake when a friend of mine called me at home later in the morning. I attribute this incident to fatigue. My work schedule requires an XA00 departure, and I guess I was tired. To prevent this from happening again, I will add this to my after landing checklist.

Title: A PA32-300 ATX PLT FAILS TO CLOSE HIS IFR FLT PLAN WITH HRL APCH CTLR AFTER LNDG AT HRL, TX. TWR WAS CLOSED AT THE EARLY MORNING HR.
Narrative: ON SEP/XA/98, I WAS ON AN IFR FLT FROM SAN ANTONIO, TX, TO HARLINGEN, TX. I WAS VECTORED TO THE ILS FINAL APCH COURSE AND PERFORMED AN ILS. CONDITIONS AT THE TIME WERE VMC AND I WAS CLRED TO ANNOUNCE MY POS ON THE CTAF. (TWR WAS CLOSED.) I LANDED SAFELY AND TAXIED IN. WHAT I FORGOT TO DO, HOWEVER, WAS CLOSE MY IFR FLT PLAN WITH APCH. APPARENTLY THEY CLOSED THE ARPT FOR AN UNSPECIFIED AMOUNT OF TIME. I DISCOVERED MY MISTAKE WHEN A FRIEND OF MINE CALLED ME AT HOME LATER IN THE MORNING. I ATTRIBUTE THIS INCIDENT TO FATIGUE. MY WORK SCHEDULE REQUIRES AN XA00 DEP, AND I GUESS I WAS TIRED. TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN, I WILL ADD THIS TO MY AFTER LNDG CHKLIST.
