Aircraft X was stopped at FL290 for traffic. He was also being slowed for additional traffic. Aircraft Y was on a converging course with aircraft X, but would have fallen behind if aircraft X hadn't been slowed.

Title: ARTCC RADAR CTLR LOSES SEPARATION BTWN 2 ACR ACFT XING SAME COURSE AT SAME ALT.
Narrative: ACFT X WAS STOPPED AT FL290 FOR TFC. HE WAS ALSO BEING SLOWED FOR ADDITIONAL TFC. ACFT Y WAS ON A CONVERGING COURSE WITH ACFT X, BUT WOULD HAVE FALLEN BEHIND IF ACFT X HADN'T BEEN SLOWED.
