Narrative:

After deviating for WX, ATC cleared us direct kingston (on the arrival to jfk). Tuned in 117.6, got strong signal (ie, no flags) and good DME. Started a turn to 240 degrees (direct or RMI). ATC advised heading should be 110 degrees. (There is an overlap between 2 vors about 300 ft apart.) (kingston VOR was not entered in INS as it was off flight plan.)

TURN WAS INITIATED DIRECT TO RDMI INDICATION WHEN ATC ADVISED TO CORRECT HDG 130 DEGS TO L. CAPT NOTED OVERLAP FROM 2 VORS 300 MI APART.
