Narrative:

On sep/xa/98, I used dkx airport for my base for flying traffic reports. Although the ceiling was unlimited and visibility was more than 10 mi, I did check WX but not NOTAMS. The airport was 'closed.' I was unaware of it. I did transmit my intentions on common frequency 126.6. Nothing heard from anyone. I departed runway 26 without incident, checked in with tys control, and was notified that, to their knowledge, dkx was closed. I returned to dkx without incident. I failed to check NOTAMS. All other preflight actions were taken. There was no air or ground traffic. Everything appeared to be normal. But the dkx airport was officially closed.
