Narrative:

While I was recovering from a maneuver called 'split south' I realized that I was picking up to mach speed. I found myself in the yellow arc (well above va) and I tried to pull up very gently. When I reached 170 KTS the trim tab collapsed and I lost it. Also, the elevator had small damage, but the airplane was ctlable and I safely landed at vny. Also, I realized that to practice aerobatics in that area, I was supposed to open the aerobatic box with the local FSS, something that I wasn't aware of.
