Narrative:

Flight cleared for takeoff. At approximately 124 KIAS day tower advised to 'cancel the takeoff clearance.' we did a high speed abort. A high wing cessna, single engine aircraft, had departed off runway 24L and made a right turn instead of a left, according to ATC. Abort was normal -- no injuries to passenger or crew. On taxi back to gate, left outboard main tire fuse plug had blown. Continued to gate, short distance. Flight canceled upon inspection. FAA, union, and flight operations advised. A possible midair on takeoff could have occurred. ATC tower controller for runway 24R 'called the save.'
