Narrative:

The trainee at sector RA 68 (dixie) called me at R56 (jfk) to coordinate aircraft #2 direct to cam. I approved this. Direct cam turned aircraft #2 left and northbound into sector 55 (ard) airspace. Aircraft #2 was climbing to FL240. I intended to climb him above this, so I called sector 55 to get control for climb. As I did this, I used the quick look feature to look at sector 55 traffic and realized that sector 55 was not looking at aircraft #2 and that he had just climbed aircraft #1 out of 17000 ft. I asked sector 55 radar controller if he was aware of aircraft #2 and he immediately told aircraft #1 to maintain 17000 ft. Aircraft #1 had already initiated his climb and had reached 17500 ft when he received an RA to descend and aircraft #2 was shown (mode C) climbing out of FL185. FL180 was not usable due to altimeter being below 29.92 inches.

THE SECTOR 56 CTLR COORDINATES WITH SECTOR 55 AND DISCOVERS THAT A POINTOUT TO SECTOR 55 HAS NOT BEEN MADE. THE B737 COMES IN CONFLICT WITH AN MD88 CLBING BENEATH THE B737. THE MD88 EXECUTES A TCASII MANEUVER.

AS I DID THIS, I USED THE QUICK LOOK FEATURE TO LOOK AT SECTOR 55 TFC AND REALIZED THAT SECTOR 55 WAS NOT LOOKING AT ACFT #2 AND THAT HE HAD JUST CLBED ACFT #1 OUT OF 17000 FT. I ASKED SECTOR 55 RADAR CTLR IF HE WAS AWARE OF ACFT #2 AND HE IMMEDIATELY TOLD ACFT #1 TO MAINTAIN 17000 FT. ACFT #1 HAD ALREADY INITIATED HIS CLB AND HAD REACHED 17500 FT WHEN HE RECEIVED AN RA TO DSND AND ACFT #2 WAS SHOWN (MODE C) CLBING OUT OF FL185. FL180 WAS NOT USABLE DUE TO ALTIMETER BEING BELOW 29.92 INCHES.
