Narrative:

I was an extra crew member. I boarded the plane and immediately noticed a strong chemical smell. It began to irritate my eyes. I told the first officer and he noticed the smell in galleys, cockpit, closets. First officer called the ground crew. They told us it was a cleaning solution. When we landed in dallas all crew members had headaches, irritated eyes and nausea. I was finishing my sequence in dfw. The rest of the crew went to company medical. The plane was grounded in dfw. Come to find out it was the wrong cleaning agent. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that the fumes were detected immediately by the crew on boarding but the ground cleaners claimed the agent used to clean the aircraft interior was the proper solution. After the flight landed in dfw, the aircraft was grounded due to the fact that the cleaning agent used was determined to be other than normal and causing the caustic reaction. Passenger were not affected.
