Narrative:

On postflt walkaround, an 8 inch gash was noticed by mechanic. This gouge was probably already on the nose of the aircraft when our crew took control of the airplane in denver. If in fact it was there, a closer, more attentive walkaround would have caught this prior to this flight. At least it was caught prior to flying another leg.

Title: AN ACR MECH FINDS DAMAGE TO THE NOSE SECTION OF A DO-328 AT ASE, CO. THE FO CITES POSSIBILITY OF DAMAGE BEING DONE AT DEN, THEIR DEP ARPT, AND THAT HE MISSED IT ON THE PREFLT.

Narrative: ON POSTFLT WALKAROUND, AN 8 INCH GASH WAS NOTICED BY MECH. THIS GOUGE WAS PROBABLY ALREADY ON THE NOSE OF THE ACFT WHEN OUR CREW TOOK CTL OF THE AIRPLANE IN DENVER. IF IN FACT IT WAS THERE, A CLOSER, MORE ATTENTIVE WALKAROUND WOULD HAVE CAUGHT THIS PRIOR TO THIS FLT. AT LEAST IT WAS CAUGHT PRIOR TO FLYING ANOTHER LEG.
