Narrative:

During climb out, noticed aircraft cyclically yawing. Secured upper yaw damper and it stopped. Complied with abnormal procedures, flying lower cruise altitude and speed. Yaw damper had been written up and repaired on previous day. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was a B727-200 and the cause of the upper yaw damper failure was not disclosed by maintenance. The reporter said the aircraft yaw damper had been written up and worked the previous day.

Title: A B727-200 IN CLB AT FL180 HAD CYCLICAL YAWING CAUSED BY THE UPPER YAW DAMPER.

Narrative: DURING CLBOUT, NOTICED ACFT CYCLICALLY YAWING. SECURED UPPER YAW DAMPER AND IT STOPPED. COMPLIED WITH ABNORMAL PROCS, FLYING LOWER CRUISE ALT AND SPD. YAW DAMPER HAD BEEN WRITTEN UP AND REPAIRED ON PREVIOUS DAY. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACFT WAS A B727-200 AND THE CAUSE OF THE UPPER YAW DAMPER FAILURE WAS NOT DISCLOSED BY MAINT. THE RPTR SAID THE ACFT YAW DAMPER HAD BEEN WRITTEN UP AND WORKED THE PREVIOUS DAY.
