Narrative:
On a quick turn at evv, ground control gave taxi clearance to runway 22 by way of txwys C and B to cross runway 9/27. With just a quick glance at the taxi chart, I assumed I knew the way and started my taxi to runway 22. From taxiway C I turn right on runway 9/27, intending to pick up taxiway B. At that point I realized I was proceeding the wrong way, toward taxiway a not taxiway B. At this point I contacted ground and told him of my error. Ground reply was continue taxi to taxiway a and that there was no problem or harm. This situation was the result of assuming I knew the way. The taxi chart should have been studied more in detail. This situation wouldn't have occurred if the taxi chart had been studied more closely. This was a breakdown of situational awareness.
