Narrative:

While departing cos we were on a radar vector to intercept the falcon 173 degree radial level at 16000 ft. We received a TA TCASII 'climb' alert which we did immediately. We saw a learjet heading up at us. After 'clear of conflict' we returned to 16000 ft from 16300 ft. We saw the lear immediately as he passed 400-500 ft below us. The pilot of the lear commented how close the occurrence had been. We told den approach control that we had received a TCASII alert to climb. Den approach control did not seem too concerned about it. I assume that the lear was supposed to maintain 15000 ft, but didn't or approach control had been in error. Supplemental information from acn 409647: northbound out of cos at 16000 ft MSL TCASII called 'traffic.' sbound learjet at 15000 ft started climbing. Visually acquired learjet immediately after TA. TCASII gave an RA to 'climb.' we climbed to 16300 ft. Our climb was not necessary to avoid collision, but we honored the TCASII RA.

Title: A NBOUND B737 AT 16000 FT RECEIVED A TCASII ALERT ON A SBOUND LEARJET CLBING THROUGH 15000 FT. THE B737 FLC OBSERVED THE LEARJET BOTH ON TCASII AND VISUALLY AND CLBED TO 16300 FT. THE LEARJET PASSED APPROX 400-500 FT BELOW THEM.

Narrative: WHILE DEPARTING COS WE WERE ON A RADAR VECTOR TO INTERCEPT THE FALCON 173 DEG RADIAL LEVEL AT 16000 FT. WE RECEIVED A TA TCASII 'CLB' ALERT WHICH WE DID IMMEDIATELY. WE SAW A LEARJET HDG UP AT US. AFTER 'CLR OF CONFLICT' WE RETURNED TO 16000 FT FROM 16300 FT. WE SAW THE LEAR IMMEDIATELY AS HE PASSED 400-500 FT BELOW US. THE PLT OF THE LEAR COMMENTED HOW CLOSE THE OCCURRENCE HAD BEEN. WE TOLD DEN APCH CTL THAT WE HAD RECEIVED A TCASII ALERT TO CLB. DEN APCH CTL DID NOT SEEM TOO CONCERNED ABOUT IT. I ASSUME THAT THE LEAR WAS SUPPOSED TO MAINTAIN 15000 FT, BUT DIDN'T OR APCH CTL HAD BEEN IN ERROR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 409647: NBOUND OUT OF COS AT 16000 FT MSL TCASII CALLED 'TFC.' SBOUND LEARJET AT 15000 FT STARTED CLBING. VISUALLY ACQUIRED LEARJET IMMEDIATELY AFTER TA. TCASII GAVE AN RA TO 'CLB.' WE CLBED TO 16300 FT. OUR CLB WAS NOT NECESSARY TO AVOID COLLISION, BUT WE HONORED THE TCASII RA.
