Narrative:

While doing preflight, noticed fuel load approximately 1300 pounds. Also saw fuel truck fueling our plane. (Asked fueler how much fuel he was going to put on the plane. He said 38 gals/side.) I did not realize he was done fueling, and went inside to get our paperwork. I signed release, because I saw approximately 1300 pounds and thought fuel truck was going to put another 38 gals/side. While taxiing out asked first officer to double check and verify our minimum fuel. Realized then we did not have enough fuel (minimum fuel 1525 pounds). We had 1400 pounds. Later learned operations had wrong fuel load from previous flight. We returned to the gate after realizing my mistake and got some extra fuel.
