ARTS iia low altitude/conflict alert audible tone is too loud and interferes with ground-to-ground and air-to-ground communications. After a transmission to air carrier X, during which the tone was sounding, the pilot advised that a 'loud beeping tone in the background' was making it difficult to hear the controller.

Title: APCH CTLR AT COS STATES THAT THE LOW ALT ALERT AND CONFLICT ALERT AURAL ALARM ASSOCIATED WITH THE ARTS IIA SYS AT COS IS TOO LOUD AND INTERFERES WITH AIR TO GND COM WITH ACFT.

Narrative: ARTS IIA LOW ALT/CONFLICT ALERT AUDIBLE TONE IS TOO LOUD AND INTERFERES WITH GND-TO-GND AND AIR-TO-GND COMS. AFTER A XMISSION TO ACR X, DURING WHICH THE TONE WAS SOUNDING, THE PLT ADVISED THAT A 'LOUD BEEPING TONE IN THE BACKGROUND' WAS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO HEAR THE CTLR.
