Narrative:

After a normal routine flight from yyc to msp I executed a visual approach to runway 30R at msp. I taxied in to gate xx. Upon our next departure a maintenance supervisor informed us aircraft YYYY DC9 air carrier X would require an engine change on 1 engine and an overhaul on the other for FOD. He stated we had picked up a black tar type substance from the runway. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: on callback the reporter stated: landing was on runway 30R with a left turnoff at taxiway E8, and a very short taxi to the gate. They were nowhere near the construction activity. Their DC9 has an EPR limit of 1.60 during reverse thrust. They used no more than 1.50 EPR for their ling. The reporter did not know where the FOD 'black tar strips' came from, nor if his company had contacted the airport auths.
