Narrative:

I (small aircraft) had flight following to boise. I had been handed off to boise tower by boise approach. Boise tower cleared a king air for landing on runway 10L. I was cleared by boise tower for #2 behind the king air. My passenger shouted, I looked directly ahead and saw a cessna single. It had already started evasive action. I informed the tower and they asked me what a new C172 looked like and that he was 1 mi south of his reported position. His heading at the time was 280 degrees, mine was 100 degrees.
