Narrative:

I was on visual approach to runway 22 at midland international airport in a cessna caravan (C208B). An air carrier B737 was taxiing to runway 10 for takeoff. A military T1 and a military jet trainer were doing multiple practice approachs. I had been cleared to land and was on a 1 mi final to runway 22 when tower canceled my landing clearance. I was instructed to enter downwind to runway 16L so the B737 could takeoff on runway 10. I acknowledged and requested a long landing which tower granted. I do not recall if I answered with 'clear to land runway 16L' or 'cleared to land runway 16R' but I thought I was cleared to runway 16R. I entered approximately 1/4 field left base for runway 16R. As I turned final tower issued amended clearance for runway 16R to me and instructed the military T1 to go around. My actions did not interfere with the B737 or the military trainer. This incident could have been avoided by my paying more careful attention or by tower making the air carrier B737 wait 60 lousy seconds while I completed the approach and landing to the originally assigned runway.

Title: PLT OF A CARGO CESSNA CARAVAN, C208B, MADE AN APCH AND LNDG TO THE WRONG RWY DUE TO A MISUNDERSTANDING OF THE PARALLEL RWY TO WHICH HE WAS CLRED.

Narrative: I WAS ON VISUAL APCH TO RWY 22 AT MIDLAND INTL ARPT IN A CESSNA CARAVAN (C208B). AN ACR B737 WAS TAXIING TO RWY 10 FOR TKOF. A MIL T1 AND A MIL JET TRAINER WERE DOING MULTIPLE PRACTICE APCHS. I HAD BEEN CLRED TO LAND AND WAS ON A 1 MI FINAL TO RWY 22 WHEN TWR CANCELED MY LNDG CLRNC. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO ENTER DOWNWIND TO RWY 16L SO THE B737 COULD TKOF ON RWY 10. I ACKNOWLEDGED AND REQUESTED A LONG LNDG WHICH TWR GRANTED. I DO NOT RECALL IF I ANSWERED WITH 'CLR TO LAND RWY 16L' OR 'CLRED TO LAND RWY 16R' BUT I THOUGHT I WAS CLRED TO RWY 16R. I ENTERED APPROX 1/4 FIELD L BASE FOR RWY 16R. AS I TURNED FINAL TWR ISSUED AMENDED CLRNC FOR RWY 16R TO ME AND INSTRUCTED THE MIL T1 TO GAR. MY ACTIONS DID NOT INTERFERE WITH THE B737 OR THE MIL TRAINER. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY MY PAYING MORE CAREFUL ATTN OR BY TWR MAKING THE ACR B737 WAIT 60 LOUSY SECONDS WHILE I COMPLETED THE APCH AND LNDG TO THE ORIGINALLY ASSIGNED RWY.
