Narrative:

Inadvertently flew more than 8 hours in 24 hours due to misleading information from company scheduling/dispatch. Company reported departure time change sufficient to compensate for previous day's flts and hours flown. Without checking my logs aircraft departed. In cruise, discussion with crew members, we discovered our error. Aircraft departed approximately 2 hours before/prior to times being reset. Corrective action will be to further review/understand the complicated FARS regarding flight/duty time, better control of times on my behalf to protect myself from the company scheduler/dispatch misleading information in attempting to move aircraft. Flight duty times should be standardized for flag/domestic supplemental carriers to avoid misunderstanding by flcs who have operated in both environments. Additionally, scheduling and dispatch should be held accountable or should help crews versus misleading them to meet their objectives, thereby reducing pressure on flcs to make hasty decisions on flight/duty time on short notice.
