Narrative:
Socal departure handoff and clearance readback resulted in 4-5 mi horizontal deviation to near off airways, vectors returned aircraft without conflict, report being filed to protect record. ZLA queried where clearance originated which is interpreted by this airman (reporter) as a problem that could have been avoided if clearance was not 'pom as filed.' requested clearance was direct pom direct hec direct sgu.

Narrative: SOCAL DEP HDOF AND CLRNC READBACK RESULTED IN 4-5 MI HORIZ DEV TO NEAR OFF AIRWAYS, VECTORS RETURNED ACFT WITHOUT CONFLICT, RPT BEING FILED TO PROTECT RECORD. ZLA QUERIED WHERE CLRNC ORIGINATED WHICH IS INTERPRETED BY THIS AIRMAN (RPTR) AS A PROB THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF CLRNC WAS NOT 'POM AS FILED.' REQUESTED CLRNC WAS DIRECT POM DIRECT HEC DIRECT SGU.
