Narrative:

During taxi-in to gate xx at lax, guide man used non standard guidance signals to aircraft. A baggage train under tow violated the sterile taxi-in area. Guide man signaled for a stop, then followed with a signal to continue to taxi within a few seconds after the stop signal. Apparently, as the aircraft made the 90 degree turn to the gate, a cargo container was blown by the thrust of our aircraft into an engine nacelle cowling of a DC10. Engine #2 was shut down as our aircraft initiated the turn to the lead-in line for gate xx. The aircraft did not come to a complete stop before continuing to the gate under guidance. I was clearing the right side of the aircraft visually and guarding the brakes. The ramp area was very busy at this time requiring added vigilance. We were not given any indication of debris or unsecured materials behind our around (our position). Guide man never indicated a need for another stop or tow-in. We didn't receive notification of this incident until approximately 30 mins after it happened. Captain used 2 engine thrust until signaled into gate when we shut down #2. Minimal thrust was used on the remaining engine. Guide man met the aircraft for logbook after blocking in and made no mention of any incident.

Title: JET BLAST BLOWS BAGGAGE CART INTO AN ACFT AT LAX.

Narrative: DURING TAXI-IN TO GATE XX AT LAX, GUIDE MAN USED NON STANDARD GUIDANCE SIGNALS TO ACFT. A BAGGAGE TRAIN UNDER TOW VIOLATED THE STERILE TAXI-IN AREA. GUIDE MAN SIGNALED FOR A STOP, THEN FOLLOWED WITH A SIGNAL TO CONTINUE TO TAXI WITHIN A FEW SECONDS AFTER THE STOP SIGNAL. APPARENTLY, AS THE ACFT MADE THE 90 DEG TURN TO THE GATE, A CARGO CONTAINER WAS BLOWN BY THE THRUST OF OUR ACFT INTO AN ENG NACELLE COWLING OF A DC10. ENG #2 WAS SHUT DOWN AS OUR ACFT INITIATED THE TURN TO THE LEAD-IN LINE FOR GATE XX. THE ACFT DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE CONTINUING TO THE GATE UNDER GUIDANCE. I WAS CLRING THE R SIDE OF THE ACFT VISUALLY AND GUARDING THE BRAKES. THE RAMP AREA WAS VERY BUSY AT THIS TIME REQUIRING ADDED VIGILANCE. WE WERE NOT GIVEN ANY INDICATION OF DEBRIS OR UNSECURED MATERIALS BEHIND OUR AROUND (OUR POS). GUIDE MAN NEVER INDICATED A NEED FOR ANOTHER STOP OR TOW-IN. WE DIDN'T RECEIVE NOTIFICATION OF THIS INCIDENT UNTIL APPROX 30 MINS AFTER IT HAPPENED. CAPT USED 2 ENG THRUST UNTIL SIGNALED INTO GATE WHEN WE SHUT DOWN #2. MINIMAL THRUST WAS USED ON THE REMAINING ENG. GUIDE MAN MET THE ACFT FOR LOGBOOK AFTER BLOCKING IN AND MADE NO MENTION OF ANY INCIDENT.
