Narrative:

I was cleared to taxi from our ramp to runway 12L, via the inner circle (taxiway D) to runway 6 and hold short of runway 12R on runway 6. I was then instructed to cross runway 12R. As I was approaching runway 12R, I was fixated on the runway signs for runway 13. When I realized this, the nose of my aircraft had crossed the hold short lines for runway 12L. I had my first officer immediately notify tower of our position. Tower, which had just cleared airline X for takeoff at the intersection ahead of us on runway 12L, instructed us to taxi into position and hold behind the departing airline X jet. I attribute my mistake to inexperience and the different visual cues one has taxiing on a runway versus a taxiway.

Title: BA31 CREW HAD RWY INCURSION WHEN NOSE OF ACFT CROSSED THE RWY HOLD SHORT LINE.

Narrative: I WAS CLRED TO TAXI FROM OUR RAMP TO RWY 12L, VIA THE INNER CIRCLE (TXWY D) TO RWY 6 AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 12R ON RWY 6. I WAS THEN INSTRUCTED TO CROSS RWY 12R. AS I WAS APCHING RWY 12R, I WAS FIXATED ON THE RWY SIGNS FOR RWY 13. WHEN I REALIZED THIS, THE NOSE OF MY ACFT HAD CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINES FOR RWY 12L. I HAD MY FO IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY TWR OF OUR POS. TWR, WHICH HAD JUST CLRED AIRLINE X FOR TKOF AT THE INTXN AHEAD OF US ON RWY 12L, INSTRUCTED US TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD BEHIND THE DEPARTING AIRLINE X JET. I ATTRIBUTE MY MISTAKE TO INEXPERIENCE AND THE DIFFERENT VISUAL CUES ONE HAS TAXIING ON A RWY VERSUS A TXWY.
