En route dtw to fra, lost hydraulic quantity in system #1. System #3 overheated. Shut system #3 down, followed dual hydraulic failure procedures. Declared emergency and diverted to bos. System #3 cooled prior to approach. Landing in bos normal. On taxi in to gate, system #3 overheated again and was shut off. Company procedures followed, no conflicts, no injuries. This report filed because emergency was declared.
