Narrative:

Location: taxiway B between taxiway P and runway 17C. Landed on runway 17L dfw. Taxied west on er. Instructions were to turn right on taxiway P, left on taxiway a, hold short of runway 17C. We inadvertently passed taxiway a, and first officer advised captain that we passed taxiway a. We were watching an air carrier Y B757 who was rolling out long on runway 17C with an aircraft on short final. Tower told aircraft Y to expedite and take the highspeed. By this time captain had passed taxiway a but slowed sufficiently to take taxiway B short of runway 17C. Air carrier Y rolled up to taxiway B and started to make a left turn onto taxiway B, but he stopped partially into turn when he saw us I suppose. Tower told aircraft on short final to go around since air carrier Y was still on runway 17C at taxiway B. Air carrier Y then rolled forward and turned left onto taxiway a. We rolled forward on taxiway B and held short of runway 17C. This ended the conflict and we taxied across the runways shortly thereafter. Our failure to turn onto taxiway a from taxiway P was due to watching air carrier Y's long rollout and the potential for a go around which was developing. Although this developing situation did not directly involve us, we allowed it to distract us enough to miss the turn onto taxiway a.

Title: CAPT OF A B727 MISSED TURNING ON A TXWY DURING TAXI AFTER LNDG RESULTING IN 1 ACFT SENT AROUND BECAUSE B757 LNDG AHEAD COULD NOT TURN OFF RWY DUE TO THE RPTR BLOCKING THE TXWY.

Narrative: LOCATION: TXWY B BTWN TXWY P AND RWY 17C. LANDED ON RWY 17L DFW. TAXIED W ON ER. INSTRUCTIONS WERE TO TURN R ON TXWY P, L ON TXWY A, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 17C. WE INADVERTENTLY PASSED TXWY A, AND FO ADVISED CAPT THAT WE PASSED TXWY A. WE WERE WATCHING AN ACR Y B757 WHO WAS ROLLING OUT LONG ON RWY 17C WITH AN ACFT ON SHORT FINAL. TWR TOLD ACFT Y TO EXPEDITE AND TAKE THE HIGHSPEED. BY THIS TIME CAPT HAD PASSED TXWY A BUT SLOWED SUFFICIENTLY TO TAKE TXWY B SHORT OF RWY 17C. ACR Y ROLLED UP TO TXWY B AND STARTED TO MAKE A L TURN ONTO TXWY B, BUT HE STOPPED PARTIALLY INTO TURN WHEN HE SAW US I SUPPOSE. TWR TOLD ACFT ON SHORT FINAL TO GAR SINCE ACR Y WAS STILL ON RWY 17C AT TXWY B. ACR Y THEN ROLLED FORWARD AND TURNED L ONTO TXWY A. WE ROLLED FORWARD ON TXWY B AND HELD SHORT OF RWY 17C. THIS ENDED THE CONFLICT AND WE TAXIED ACROSS THE RWYS SHORTLY THEREAFTER. OUR FAILURE TO TURN ONTO TXWY A FROM TXWY P WAS DUE TO WATCHING ACR Y'S LONG ROLLOUT AND THE POTENTIAL FOR A GAR WHICH WAS DEVELOPING. ALTHOUGH THIS DEVELOPING SIT DID NOT DIRECTLY INVOLVE US, WE ALLOWED IT TO DISTRACT US ENOUGH TO MISS THE TURN ONTO TXWY A.
