Narrative:

Passing over crg headed northbound on J51, we requested and were cleared direct to cae. Just when I put the microphone down we had a fault warning for our center tank fuel pumps. This distraction both myself and the first officer for a min and the aircraft continued on the airway and never was reprogrammed for direct cae. A few mins later, center reclred us to cae and we then realized our mistake.
