Narrative:

On takeoff at dtw, gross weight of 145800 pounds (fairly light), tailskid struck the runway on rotation. Rotation rate was normal. Possible factors include the installation of smaller than normal engines on the aircraft (JT8D-7's), and gusty winds -- a significant yaw was felt in the crosswind about 10 KTS prior to rotation. Other than that, I am at a loss. Load data and longitudinal trim were checked and were found normal.
